| 説明 | Stadthuys Museum Pic. 3 of 14: Posters showing the evolution of the Stadthuys building. In pictures and videos I have seen on the web and on tv thus far, there were statues of soldiers from each of the periods depicted in the posters- Malacca/ Melaka had been colonized/ occupied by several forces- starting from the local warriors, invaders over the years were the Portuguese, the Dutch, the British and for a brief period the Japanese. I was disappointed that the statues/ mannequins from each of these had been housed in separate rooms- it would have been a lot easier to see them all lined up near these posters. Oh well. Stadthuys was converted into a History and Ethnography Museum in 1982 to showcase the rich history of Malacca/ Melaka. The museum includes detailed information from the Malay Sultanate to the colonisation of the Dutch and British to the history and ethnography of the tradition and culture of Melaka, just as I mentioned above. (pardon the repetition). The museum is also home to a rich collection of relics and historical artifacts, some which are over 400 years old. (Malacca/ Melaka, Malaysia, Sept. 2023) |
