| 説明 | Jonker Walk by night: pic. 7 of 34: Putu Piring- I missed it despite standing right next to the kiosk. I was fascinated by it after watching a very lively video about Jonker Walk and Putu Piring by the famous Brazilian journalist Renata Pereira, Putu Piring is a round-shaped steamed rice flour kueh (Malay for a baked or steamed savoury or sweet snack) filled with palm sugar. Though offered here on Jonker Walk in Malacca/ Melaka, Putu Piring is more commonly associated with Singaporean cuisine The dish is usually made using stainless steel molds with a distinctive flower shape and despite it's more common association with Singapore, is a traditional dessert among the Malay community of the country. Back to Jonker Walk, this is the Chinatown area in Malacca/ Melaka, Malaysia. This colourful and full of energy (especially at night) street starts from just across the Malacca River opposite to the Stadthuys museum on Dutch Square. It's busiest on Fri, Sat and Sunday nights from 18:00 till 00:00. More notes about Jonker Walk appeared earlier in this album. (see previous pictures). (Malacca/ Melaka, Malaysia, Sept. 2023) |
