| 説明 | Excited as I was to be able to see Toucans once again in the Malacca/ Melaka zoo, I was puzzled that I could not spot a single one in the enclosure. A zoo docent (volunteer) assured me that there were three birds in there, and was kind enough to come in with me to point out the concealed Toucans- all three were perched high, high up in the rafters, like the first one here. Toucans are members of the near passerine bird family Ramphastidae. Toucans are brightly marked and have large, often colorful bills. The family includes five genera and over 40 different species. Aside from their geographical distribution and habitat, one major difference between Toucans and Hornbills are that Toucans lack the large casque atop their bills which most Hornbill species have.
