| 説明 | Ooh, this was a wind up.A couple of days before I left for Finland I got home from work and my boot refused to open. There's a few different causes, but far and away the most likely is down to some shitty design and production.The boot opens by pressing a microswitch which activates a lock motor. There's is no button inside the car. There is no physical key override.The wiring harness that runs into the boot lid follows a convoluted route which involves some sharp bends, and after ten years or more of opening and closing the boot, this happens. What you can see inside the harness is that one wire is completely broken and two are severely frayed. This harness needs replacing.But getting here was a fun journey. The only way to open the boot is to repair the harness. But the only way to repair the harness is to open the boot. Sublime Catch-22.The solution is a bugger, and involves folding down the rear seats and clambering into the boot, then removing ten panel clips, two suspension clips, one handle insert and then peeling back the boot trim panel to expose the lock motor connector. Then I used a piece of wire to short pins 1 and 4 on the motor connector and boom - the boot opens.I've done a ghetto fix on the harness for now and I'll order up a new one. |
