| 説明 | Built in 1891, this Classical Revival-style building was constructed to serve as a lighthouse, or faros, for the island of Mykonos, and stands atop a high promontory overlooking the Mediterranean Sea at the north end of the island, marking the southern side of the shipping channel between Mykonos and Tinos in the Cyclades. The lighthouse was built by the Greek government, and features a white-painted exterior with a one-story wing with casement windows, an octagonal tower with quoins and a cornice with modillions, a glass lantern with a metal dome and weathervane above two balconies, and a projected entrance bay on the front facade. The lighthouse is presently dilapidated, as it was abandoned in the 20th Century, but remains a minor tourist attraction on the island. |
