| 説明 | Built in the 1830s, this Gothic Revival-style house was built by Algernon Sidney Johnson, and was home to South Carolina Governor Governor John Lawrence Manning during his term between 1852 and 1854, and whom became a United States Senator in 1856. The house was purchased by Preston C. Lorick in 1877, and subsequently renovated to its present appearance under his ownership. The house features a stucco-clad exterior, a side-gable roof with front and rear gables, decorative Gothic gingerbread bargeboard at the gable ends, one-over-one, four-over-one, and six-over-one double-hung windows, decorative glass transoms, a semi-circular bay window on the west facade with a crenellated parapet, decorative trim at the windows on the west and east facades, a front door inset within an arched bay at the center of the front facade, a front porch with turned columns, decorative railings, decorative trim, a rooftop railing, a hipped roof, and bracketed eaves, and decorative chimney pots. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972, and today houses the offices of two law firms. |
