| 説明 | A public menorah lighting takes place in Revolution Square in Moscow, Russia on December 7, 2023, the first night of the 8-night holiday of Chanukah. This ceremony is part of Chabad-Lubavitch's worldwide Chanukah awareness campaign, which includes 15,000 large public menorahs in more than 100 countries around the world, including in front of landmarks such as the White House, the Eiffel Tower, and Trafalgar Square in London.The campaign was launched in 1973 by the Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson, of righteous memory, the most influential rabbi in modern history, forever altering the awareness and practice of the festival. The campaign highlights the central theme of the holiday — publicizing the story of the Hanukkah miracle -- and encourages the main practice of lighting one's own menorah at home.This year has seen a surge in public Chanukah displays, with Jews celebrating the holiday with more confidence and resolve than ever before. Amid war in Israel and rising antisemitism, the worldwide Jewish community has experienced a spiritual awakening and an increased sense of Jewish pride.
