| 説明 | c/n 3The basic Bréguet 19 was a bomber and reconnaissance aircraft of which 2,700 were built in a number of variants. The Bréguet 19 TF Super Bidon was originally built as the third Br.19 TR Bidon but was further modified specifically for transatlantic flight. Named “Point d'Interrogation” (The Question Mark) its first non-stop long-distance flight was from Paris to Qiqihar in China, a 4,912 mile flight which took place in late September 1929. In early September the following year the same crew, Dieudonne Costes and Maurice Bellonte, flew it the 3,900 miles from Paris to New York, making the first non-stop east-west flight between the two cities. After this flight they undertook a 16,500 mile goodwill tour of the United States which lasted until the 10th October that year.Rightly preserved as a centrepiece of the collection, the Point d'Interrogation is on display in the Interwar Hall at the Musée de l'air et de l'espace.Le Bourget Airport, Paris, France.12th July 2022 |
