| 説明 | This is a work in progress (WIP).In order to caracterize the efficiency of a cheap DC-DC buck converter based on an LM2596, some codding in Python is being written to automate the process, controlling the devices through LAN connections with pyvisa and SCPI commands. The following Siglent devices are at use. SDP3033X DC power supply, 2 multimeters, an SDM3045X as voltmeter and an SDM3055 as ampmeter, and an SDL1020X electronic DC load. The more tradicional way to characterize a DC device like this, is having 4 multimeters available, and the value for the input power of the DC-DC module is attained with the current and voltage measured at the input with 2 meters, and the results multiplied to get the input power. The other 2 meters do the same for the DC-DC module output. Efficiency is then given by Pout/Pin. The measurements as to be taken, and hand written in paper or in a spreadsheet like Excel, calculating power and efficiency afterwards. This can take some time and is prone to errors. With all the process automated, achieving results can take less than a minute, recorded in a file, and displayed graphically (this is in consideration).Video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZEzhHcy2Nc4 |
