説明King’s Cross St. Pancras Underground Station (Metropolitan, Hammersmith & City, Circle, Northern, Piccadilly and Victoria Lines), 29 October 2023.The sub-surface station was opened by the Metropolitan Railway in January 1863 as King’s Cross Metropolitan officially but in practice (on timetables and maps) as King’s Cross (Met.) or simply King’s Cross. It was renamed King’s Cross & St. Pancras in 1925 and King’s Cross St. Pancras in 1933. In 1940 the station was relocated to a new position beneath St. Pancras main line station, new lines being built for it in unused tunnels from an abandoned 1868 scheme. The Hammersmith & City Railway (a subsidiary of the MR) served the station from 1864 and the ‘Inner Circle’ service (a shared MR/District Railway service) from 1868 over the MR’s lines. In December 1906 the Great Northern, Piccadilly and Brompton Railway (now the Piccadilly Line) opened its own tube station on an adjacent site to be joined in May 1907 by the City & South London Railway (now part of the Northern Line). This station was named King’s Cross for St. Pancras (and was linked with the Metropolitan station). In 1933 the newly formed London Passenger Transport Board renamed the tube station King’s Cross St. Pancras (i.e. 7 years before the MR station was!). The last tube railway to serve King’s Cross St. Pancras was the Victoria Line in December 1968.In 2000-2009 the entire station complex was rebuilt to cater for the Channel Rail Link and new platforms for the Thameslink service. Pictured is one of the many entrances/exits, this one being under King’s Cross main line station.
