| 説明 | Built in 1820 and in the mid-19th Century, these two red brick, three-bay, side-gable buildings demonstrate how the scale of structures in St. Charles evolved during the 19th Century as the surrounding region became more established and developed, and as the city became more populated. The older building is one story tall, with six-over-six double-hung windows and a brick rear ell with a shed roof, and the newer building features gable parapets at the side facades, six-over-six double-hung windows in arched bays, a balcony at the central bay of the second floor of the front facade, brick corbeling, and a two-story rear ell next to a two-story gallery-style rear porch. The buildings are contributing structures in the St. Charles Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1970, and expanded to its present size in 1996. |
