| 説明 | Built in 1930, this Art Deco-style building was designed by William B. Ittner for Edmund Monroe Mays to house the Continental-Life Insurance Company and the Grand National Bank, and stands 22 floors and 286 feet, or 87 meters, tall. The building features a dark gray granite base, Art Deco-style reliefs, decorative spandrels, steel windows, a recessed doorway, a clock and sign mounted to the facade next to the entrance, terra cotta cladding on the exterior facade above the second floor, setbacks near the top of the building, and an antenna atop the building’s penthouse. The building is a contributing structure in the Midtown Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977, and has been rehabilitated for adaptive reuse as an apartment building. |
