| 説明 | Headstone TunnelThe Headstone Tunnel, shown in today’s post, is adjacent to the Headstone Viaduct. At 490 metres long, it is the longest of six tunnels along the Monsal Trail. The 8.5 miles long trail is now used by walkers and cyclists and was, originally, part of the railway line between Manchester and Matlock. Theat line closed in 1968. I walked the length of the tunnel, but found photography was difficult because of the darkness combined with the movement of other users of the tunnel. The longer shutter speed required by the former conflicting with the faster shutter speed that would have been necessary to offer unblurred images of the latter (focal length was about 17 to 20 mm). |
