| 説明 | 1864 issue from Mexico commemorates Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla. He was born in 1753, was well educated and became an ordained priest but seeing the suffering of his people he as moved to resist the Spanish rule. Ultimately he led the Mexican War of Independence, He is recognized as the Father of the Nation. His insurrection met stiff resistance from Spanish troops. They were defeated and he was betrayed, captured and executed. |
