| 説明 | Set high on a cliff edge in East Lothian this 14th Century fortification has high curtain walls to deter invaders.Despite its' age it was the last medieval curtain wall castle to be constructed in Scotland. It was attacked on numerous occasions during the period 1491 to 1651. In 1651 it was finally stormed by the large army of General Monck, acting on behalf of Oliver Cromwell. Since then it has been a ruin, but is open to visitors. |
