| 説明 | The historic Cumberland Gap is a mountain pass at the border of Kentucky, Virginia, and Tennessee through which the Wilderness Road, utilized by early settlers of Kentucky, passed through on its way west from Virginia and Tennessee. The Cumberland Gap vicinity today is known as Cumberland Gap National Historical Park, which extends into the three states, and features many trails, historical sites, and a tunnel carrying US Highway 25E underneath the gap between Cumberland Gap, Tennessee and Middlesboro, Kentucky. The Cumberland Gap became a National Historical Park between 1940, when the park was established, and 1959, when it was opened to the public, and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1966. |
