| 説明 | Sunday was my second anniversary of having open heart surgery. To celebrate I decided to hike to the summit of Max Patch and then pick up the Appalachian Trail and head towards Lemon Gap. When I reached the top of Max Patch, I was not only treated to the spectacular views this bald offers, but I had the summit to myself. Of my numerous visits here, this was the first time I did not share the experience with dozens of strangers. I then headed north on the AT to Lemon Gap. It was cool and a perfect day for hiking. I had my day pack carrying a couple liters of water, snacks, rain gear and emergency supplies. About a mile short of Lemon Gap, rain rolled in. I pulled on my poncho and I stayed dry and comfortable while protecting my camera. Unfortunately, the trail became slick, and I decided to be prudent and head back. With the rain, the songbirds sang fabulously. I stopped at the Roaring Fork AT Shelter and had lunch and waited for the rain to subside. I then hiked back to my car with my iPhone tracking 12.1 miles of hiking. Happy Anniversary! |
