| 説明 | Independence Hall, located in Philadelphia, is a significant civic building where crucial debates and adoptions took place in American history. It was within this historic structure that the United States Declaration of Independence and the United States Constitution were deliberated and adopted by the country's Founding Fathers. Today, Independence Hall stands as the focal point of the Independence National Historical Park.Originally known as the Pennsylvania State House, the building was completed in 1753. It served as the first capital for both the United States and the Province, later becoming the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. From 1775 to 1781, it played a pivotal role as the primary meeting place for the Second Continental Congress. It was also at Independence Hall that the Constitutional Convention took place, resulting in the ratification of the U.S. Constitution on June 21, 1788, which remains the oldest written and codified national constitution in existence.In 1915, a convention held within Independence Hall, presided over by former U.S. President William Howard Taft, became the official announcement of the formation of the League to Enforce Peace. This momentous occasion eventually led to the establishment of the League of Nations in 1920 and, twenty-five years later, the creation of the United Nations in 1945. |
