| 説明 | Built in 1929-1930, this Art Deco-style building was designed by Howell and Thomas for the Akron Times-Press, a newspaper, and replaced the earlier German-American Music Hall, which had stood on the site since the 19th Century. The building became home to the Akron Beacon Journal in 1938 upon their purchase of their one-time rival, the Akron Times-Press, which remained in the building until 2019. The building features a tower at the corner of Exchange Street and High Street that has multiple setbacks as it rises, limestone cladding, decorative geometric reliefs, recessed metal spandrel panels, pilasters, buff brick cladding on the side and rear facades, and a low-slope roof enclosed by a parapet. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2021. |
