| 説明 | Built in 1908, this Romanesque Revival and Exotic Revival-style building was constructed for the congregation of St. Mary's Romanian Orthodox Church, the first Romanian Orthodox Church established in the United States, which was founded in 1904. The church saw the addition of a Parish Hall in 1926, which was expanded in 1937, and remained in the neighborhood until a new church was constructed in the West Park neighborhood in 1960. The building is clad in red brick with roman arched windows and oxeye windows, two towers with lanterns and onion domes featuring finials above mansard roofs clad in copper, gabled dormers, a belfry in the taller tower with arched louvers, a rough-hewn stone base, stone trim, a front entrance portal with an arched transom, and a semi-circular rear apse. The Parish Hall is clad in red brick with casement and one-over-one windows, an arched recessed door bay, a parapet enclosing a low-slope roof, and stone sills. The building is a contributing structure in the Gordon Square Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002, and today serves as part of the Cleveland Public Theatre complex. |
