| 説明 | Built in 1968, this Modern church was designed by Harry Weese to house the congregation of the Seventeenth Church of Christ Scientist. The building is clad in marble and concrete, with a cylindrical section cantilevered over the deeply recessed first floor, a ribbed conical roof that terminates at a cylindrical dome, small window openings, concrete columns and beams exposed on the exterior at the base, and simple facades with metal ribs at the ends of the building. Inside, the building features a sanctuary with white walls, a soaring vaulted roof, semi-circular seating arrangement, ribbed wooden screen behind the organ pipes, and ribbed wooden screens between columns at the curved rear wall of the sanctuary. The building is an excellent example of modern church architecture, and continues to function as a church. |
