| 説明 | Built in 1927, this Classical Revival-style building was designed by Graham, Anderson, Probst and White to house various organizations and groups associated with the Chicago Builders' Building Corporation. The building is clad in limestone and brick with a modified first floor, three-story fluted ionic pilasters between the central bays of the LaSalle Street and Wacker Drive facades, two-story window bays with metal spandrels on the second and third floor, decorative reliefs flanking the window bays on the fifth floor, decorative cornices, decorative spandrels with fleur-de-lis motifs between windows in the central bays of the the upper floors, and three-story engaged fluted ionic columns on the nineteenth through twenty-first floors between the central bays. The building was heavily modified between 1980 and 1986 under the direction of Skidmore, Owings and Merrill, with a postmodern addition being added to the west, a tapered glass penthouse added atop the building, increasing its height by four floors. The building is a contributing structure in the West Loop–LaSalle Street Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2013, and today serves as an office building. |
