| 説明 | 19 December 2010. Were you wondering how a harsh winter affected our famous and historic monument, the Leaning Column of Tottenham Hale? (Italian: Colonna pendente di Tottenham Hale.)I'm pleased to report that despite the enormous weight of snow on the summit of the column, there was no indication of any further stooping or bowing. So London Buses didn't need to fly in the stand-by team of expert UNESCO engineers. That's the good news. The bad news is that the hand-crafted cardboard sign ("Buses Caution") is a bit faded. So groups of students from Emily Bowes Court - and North Lodge built subsequently - should take particular care when posing for souvenir photos of each other near the column. _____________________________Links§ A photoset showing the The Leaning Column from its early tilting days to its remarkable and distinctive lean. § Be sure to visit other nearby attractions. I could only get a picture from camera 3 below. But as of August 2011 none seemed to work. |
