| 説明 | NEWPORT, RI – Professor Emeritus Porter Halyburton provides remarks to students, faculty, and staff about his time as a POW and about lessons in leadership at U.S. Naval War College, May 9, 2023. Halyburton served during the Vietnam War and was forced to eject over North Vietnam while flying his 75th combat mission on October 17, 1965. He was held for 2,675 days. Halyburton was released during Operation Homecoming on February 12, 1973, and was eventually assigned to NWC from 1978 until his retirement in 2006. Established in 1884, U.S. Naval War College (NWC) informs today’s decision-makers and educates tomorrow’s leaders by providing educational experiences and learning opportunities that develop their ability to anticipate and prepare strategically for the future, strengthen the foundations of peace, and create a decisive warfighting advantage.
