| 説明 | Built in 1930, this Art Deco-style building was designed by Harry Glube to serve as the Mark Twain Hotel, but today houses affordable apartment units and retails space. The building is clad in buff brick with terra cotta trim at the base, corners, bays, and top of the structure featuring geometric and floral motifs, with decorative spandrel panels with carved floral reliefs, bands of geometric and floral motif trim below the second-story and fifth story windows and around the base of the parapet, juliet balconies with decorative floral motif reliefs, one-over-one windows, a curved corner at Division Street and Clark Street, and modern storefronts at ground level. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2017, and is a contributing structure in the Gold Coast Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978. |
