| 説明 | Built in 1886, this Queen Anne-style building was designed by Fromman and Jepsen, and is known as the Scherer Building, which was narrowly saved from demolition in 2001, and had its exterior fully restored in 2005. The building is clad in red brick with a decorative cornice at the top of the parapet enclosing the low-slope roof, basket weave brick on the fourth floor facade, arched fourth floor window openings with decorative trim, two-story oriel windows with gables and hipped roofs on the Division Street and State Parkway facades, an octagonal corner turret with decorative pilasters, spandrel panels, stained glass Queen Anne-style upper sash, a crenellated parapet around the base of the octagonal hipped roof, and decorative corbels, one-over-one windows with arched carve headers, keyhole windows on the rear oriel along Division Street, and a modified first floor storefront that houses a CVS/Pharmacy. The building is a contributing structure in the Gold Coast Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978. |
