It was designed in 1907 as a business and tertiary center to house financial institutions, commercial establishments and administrative offices. It takes its name from its main designer, the Roman architect Marcello Piacentini.Torre dei caduti: the executive works of the area were interrupted at the outbreak of the First World War and resumed only at the end, with an important modification: the change of function of the Tower (1921) . From a decorative building it became a monument dedicated to the memory of the fallen from Bergamo in the First World War and therefore it acquired a public character.Arch.
