| 説明 | Digging fork - snapped off when I was digging hard ground - no warning. I really thought this fork would outlive me. It was a lovely fork to use, heavy but somehow that made it easier to use for digging. But because of its weight it would not have been the best tool for moving compost from compartment to compartment in my compost piles. Different tools for different jobs.It was a fairly expensive fork: I think I bought it year 2020 or 2021. It is the Heritage Stainless Steel Digging Fork with Ash Handle made by Draper Tools and currently retails at over £80. I contacted the company Draper Tools. They were useless - I was happy to pay for replacement handle, carriage and admin - even if that was the whole cost of the fork (or TBH even a bit more than the cost of the fork). I hate to throw away things that can be fixed.They basically said no. They dont do repairs at all and couldnt give me any meaningful advice on how to get it fixed. ....What a disposable world we live in. I dont have proof of purchase and cant remember where I bought it. But even if I did the consequent lifetime guarantee deal would be replacement rather than fixing it. I think that would have left exactly the same bad taste in my mouth as i have now.Seems wrong that this is the way things work with what I assumed was a good company like Draper Tools. The metal part of the fork is perfect. it was just the wooden shaft that was the problem. An expensive garden fork like this shouldn't be disposable it should be fixed and last for decades and good companies should really take pride in this more sustainable approach and have an interest in facilitating/advising on options.There is a Farm & Garden shop in Ballynahinch about 10 miles away that sells spade handles, I will go there tomorrow and ask for advice, get the best handle they have that is compatible & see if they have any contacts who would be prepared to have a go at fixing it for me (My DIY skills are not great)I just cant even see how I would ever get the residual plug of wood out of the lumen of the metal shaft. Maybe i need to burn it out?in the meantime, I have bought a very cheap fork (I couldnt wait for getting the fork fixed) to keep me going.
