| 説明 | From the Old Motel area, SLO county north coast.Georgia O'Keeffe clouds!Old growth Monterey Cypress, likely approaching the century mark. Almost certainly older than the motel, which appears to be 1950s vintage. Likely planted by the Hearst Ranch (the former owners) for a windbreak.Good news: State Parks is doing fix-up work at the former motel-owners residence, a quarter-mile south along old CA-1. And they have re-roofed part of the motel itself! I spoke briefly with a workman at the house TOD. He didn't know the status of the plans for the proposed new campground, just south of the 'new' addition to the old motel (incl a public restroom, which is kept locked!)Why State Parks chose to close the old motel, rather than leasing it to a concessioner (they have a couple at Big Sur, IB) -- who knows? Too hard for the bureaucratic mind-set? |
