| 説明 | Built in 1906-1907, this Classical Revival-style train station was built to serve passengers at Columbus on the Chicago, Milwaukee and St. Paul Railroad, also known as the Milwaukee Road. The building is made of poured concrete with a hipped roof, eaves with modillions, a central gabled section with two porches featuring arched openings, a gable parapet with roman lattice motif in an arched panel, and the name “Columbus” emblazoned above a triple window below, one-over-one windows, and a river rock chimney. The building today serves as the passenger waiting room, ticket office, and baggage handling facility for the Amtrak Empire Builder service that runs through Columbus, Wisconsin en route from Chicago to St. Paul, and is the closest passenger train station to the city of Madison. |
