| 説明 | This week, protesters across the UK, who are either members of or sympathetic to the animal rights group, Animal Rising (formerly Animal Rebellion), are spreading the message of animal rights activism and alerting the public to the cruelty of the upcoming Grand National next Saturday. I met some of them in London while they were putting up posters calling for an immediate stop to the Grand National. 59 horses have been killed as a result of the event over the last 23 years, including four horses which died as a result of the last race in 2022. inews.co.uk/sport/horse-racing/grand-national-2022-fatali...plantbasednews.org/news/activism/animal-rebellion-plan-di...www.animalaid.org.uk/the-issues/our-campaigns/horse-racin...Animal Rebellion started in 2019 as a sister group to Extinction Rebellion, but with a focus on drawing attention to the catastrophic impact of animal agriculture, as opposed to just fossil fuels, on climate change and campaigning for a shift to a plant based diet. However, its members are also passionate about animal rights and cruelty to and exploitation of animals both within the industrial agricultural sector and elsewhere, including animals used in scientific experimentations, in zoos and in racing. The group has now changed its name to Animal Rising, as an affirmation that it is just as concerned with animal rights as it is about the existential threat to organised human life posed by catastrophic climate change. It has also adopted an upturned A - ∀ - as its symbol which, as far as I understood it, has a traditional meaning of "for all." The members say they are "rising up for all life."
