| 説明 | Chris the sheep at Mulligans Flat 2015Chris the sheepin August 2015 Sue Dowling, who was walking the Centenary Trail with a fitness client, spotted a sheep carrying a heavy fleece in a paddock at Mulligans Flat in northern Canberra. They named the merino wether "Chris' after the 'Chris the unhappy sheep' in the UK comedy series Father TedAfter a few weeks of observing Chris on her walks, Dowling noticed that he had stopped moving around, so she called RSPCA ACT. On 2 September, RSPCA staff members rescued the sheep and took him back to the organisation's Weston Creek sheiterThe significant weight of Chris's fleece meant that he was weak, had difficulty walking and had becomebow-legged. It is likely Chris had only weeks to live. Once unable to move. he would have faced starvation and possible attack from parasites and predators like foxes and dogs, and heat stress and flystrike in the approachingwarm weatherveterinarians recommended that Chris have his fleece removed as soon as possible. Because of concerns about shock, he was sedated, and then shorn by former national shearing champion lan Elkins. After the fleece had been removed.
