| 説明 | Today was all about exploring the newly opened (December) western extension to the Helsinki Metro, fully realising an original design vision of running the Metro right through to Espoo.Espoo and Helsinki have a bit of a Liverpool/Wirral thing going on, where a certain type of person in Espoo is right up themself and would never wish to see Espoo polluted with such a direct route from East Helsinki.There was a bun fight, but agreements were reached and now it's in. This final part of the extension introduces us to five new Metro stations, and today we visited them all. We started by going to the end of the line and working backwards, and so here we are at Kivenlahti. It would have been dead easy to make the stations identical, but instead - whilst they have clear common factors - they are indivudually styled. This one is all about the lights, with columns sprouting at various heights and downlighting. My first impression was the Great Hall at Hogwarts! |
