In the left foreground are the concrete mixers with interested passers-by leaning on the makeshift wooden fence. Towards the center is the Perpetual Trustee Company Building, built 1914-1916, the heritage-listed office building is still there today. It is the only surviving Edwardian building in Hunter Street. In the lower right, at the intersection of Hunter, Bligh and Castlereagh Streets, is the newly installed Richard Johnson Obelisk, erected to commemorate the Chaplin who sailed with the First Fleet. In front of the memorial are two women dressed in the height of 1920s fashion. |
