| 説明 | Closed pedestrianized market street (which the Japanese would call a 'shotengai' leading to the Eknath samadhi temple in Paithan, Maharashtra. Eknath (circa1533–1599), commonly known as Sant Eknath was an Indian Hindu saint, philosopher and poet. He was a devotee of the Hindu deity Vitthal and is a major figure of the Warkari movement. Eknath is often viewed as a spiritual successor to the prominent Marathi saints Dnyaneshwar and Namdev. Eknath's samadhi shrine is located at Paithan near the Godavari river, which is where this market street leads to. Celebrations commemorating Saint Eknath are held every year during March at Paithan.
