| 説明 | Warrington #1 I went to Warrington last Saturday. It’s a town between Liverpool and Manchester through which both the River Mersey and Manchester Ship Canal flow. It is a major stop on the West Coast rail line with frequent trains to and from London. The town has recently undergone redevelopment in the Times Square area but the main shopping area is the Golden Square shopping centre. The Golden Square centre includes an open-air area that includes the covered market plus a sizeable indoor shopping mall and a multi-storey car-park.Over the next few days I’ll be posting black and white photographs of each of the two key areas I’ve mentioned, but today my photos are those in which I felt that colour added to the feel of the areas pictured. The final two photographs today are in neither of the two main areas. The statue of Oliver Cromwell stands close to the bottom of Bridge Street facing the major circulatory system at the Bridgefoot Mersey crossing. Oliver Cromwell, a puritan, became leader of the parliamentary forces against the royalists towards the end of the 17th century civil wars. The small River of Life memorial fountain in Bridge Street is dedicated to the memory of two of the town’s children, Tim Parry and Jonathan Ball, who died during a major IRA bombing attack in the town centre in March 1993.I took all the Warrington photos with A Fujifilm X-T4 camera and a Fujinon XF18mm f/1.4 lens. |
