| 説明 | SL721 BelgiumOWNER: Mr. Kris Van Den Bergh" Built in 1945, Spitfire Mk XVI SL721 was initially delivered into storage at 6 MU in August. In 1946, Air Vice Marshal Sir James M. Robb took delivery of Spitfire XVI, serial number SL721 and had the Spitfire painted a special shade of light blue using the airplane from 1946-48.In 1949 he took another active command and sought out his Spitfire, which was still in the Maintenance Unit. The airplane was used by AVM Robb until 1951, when it was again sent to a maintenance unit. Sold to private hands in 1954, it lived on a garage forecourt in the hands of the Beaulieu Motor Museum. Sold to Woodson K Woods in 1977 where it was rebuilt again and painted in RAF camouflage with Woodson’s initials WKW.In 1999 son Chris Woods restored SL721 to the way it was when flown by Air Vice Marshal Sir James M. Le Spitfire Mk XVI « SL721 » quitta l’usine de production en août 1945 pour la 6 Maintenance Unit, puis il fut livré au Fighter Command Communications Squadron, puis ensuite au Metropolitan Communications Squadron où il devint l’avion personnel de l’Air Chief Marshal Sir James Milne Robb paré des codes J-MR. En août 1951 il fut envoyé à la Central Flying School de la RAF, jusqu’à sa réforme en fin 1954. L’année suivante, il fut acheté pour la somme de 150 £ par un particulier qui l’entreposa dans son garage, tout en le faisant tourner tous les ans, principalement le jour de la commémoration de la Bataille d’Angleterre. En 1965, il fut acquis par un Américain qui l’achemina aux USA et le remit en état de vol.Quelques années plus tard, un collectionneur britannique se l’offrit et le ramena en Grande-Bretagne, où il vola peu. En 1976, il fut de nouveau acheté par un Américain qui le fit revenir aux USA, puis en 2000 son nouveau propriétaire le basa à Ottawa.
