| 説明 | Looking west down the 15c nave in Perpendicular style, the north aisle being added later, built by the Bassett family c1579. Under wagon roofs decorated with carved bosses. Along north aisle and nave wall are delicately wrought iron candelabra, 3 to north aisle, 4 to nave.The original church was begun c 1202 by the De Willington family for the monks of Tewkesbury Abbey & there are tombs of that family and the Bassetts who followed them, brought from their late 13c Umberleigh chapel of the Holy Trintiy - Church of St Mary, Atherington DevonPicture with thanks - copyright Michael Garlick CCL www.geograph.org.uk/photo/6900274 |
