| 説明 | Built in 1875, this building was constructed as the Nail Factory and Warehouse for the Knoxville Iron Foundry Complex, and served as part of the Knoxville Iron Foundry Complex during its operation in the Second Creek Valley between 1868 and 1903, when the ironworks were moved to Lonsdale in West Knoxville. Following the move of the ironworks, most of the buildings were eventually demolished, with the Nail Factory and Warehouse being vacant for a dozen years before serving as a warehouse for the House-Hasson Hardware Company from 1915 until 1979, when a fire led to the building’s abandonment. Following the abandonment, the building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982, and was restored as exhibit space for the 1982 World’s Fair. The building features a hipped standing seam metal roof, red brick exterior with pilasters and arched door bays, multiple rooftop cupolas, and a stepped parapet at the rear of the building. The building presently serves as an events venue known as Foundry On The Fair Site. |
