| 説明 | Barcelona, Spain.Day four.We headed up to Montjuic again today, to explore more of that part of the city.On our way back down after visiting the Jardi Botanic, we passed through the small but very pretty Jardins de Laribal.The Jardins de Laribal are located on Montjuïc hill, in the Sants-Montjuic district of Barcelona. They were made between 1917 and 1924, for the occasion of the 1929 Barcelona International Exhibition, and were the work of Jean-Claude Nicolas Forestier and Nicolau Maria Rubió i Tudurí.The name of Laribal comes from the former owner of the land, the republican journalist and politician Josep Laribal, who was bought by the City Council in 1909.The gardens are built into terraces across various levels, linked by pathways and stairways. The flatter areas are protected from the sun by a series of pergolas made of exposed brick, stone and white pillars. Also, the presence of fountains, benches and tile decorations, water features and flower pots on windowsills and railings, give the complex a certain similarity to Granada's cármenes.The vegetation is mostly of the Mediterranean type, with species such as: Aleppo pine (Pinus halepensis), stone pine (Pinus pinea), laurel (Laurus nobilis), bitter orange (Citrus aurantium), cypress (Cupressus sempervirens), acacia ( Robinia pseudoacacia), privet (Ligustrum lucidum), pittosporum (Pittosporum tobira), oleander (Nerium oleander), Japanese oleander (Evonymus japonicus), parlor leaf (Aspidistra elatior), geranium (Pelargonium sp.), wisteria (Wisteria sinensis) , Banksia Rose (Rosa banksiae), Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia), Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis), Ivy (Hedera helix), Australian Pine (Casuarina cunninghamiana), Eucalyptus (Eucalyptus globulus), Lambert Cypress (Cupressus macrocarpa), Cedar Himalayan (Cedrus deodara), and plane tree (Platanus X hispanica). |
