| 説明 | Montauville (54)The nécropole nationale du Pétant is a French military cemetery of the First and Second World War located on the territory of the commune of Montauville.The Pétant National Necropolis, created in 1915 and fitted out between 1920 and 1936, brings together the graves of the temporary military cemeteries in the Pont-à-Mousson sector (right and left bank of the Moselle).From 1948 to 1951, the bodies of prisoners of war brought back from Germany and Austria were buried there. In 1968, the bodies of French soldiers who died in 1939-1940 were buried there, exhumed from different places in Meurthe-et-Moselle.In 1971, the bodies of prisoners of war from the Second World War repatriated from the Rawa-Ruska disciplinary camp in Ukraine were buried.Covering an area of 6.2 ha , the necropolis contains 13,518 remains, including 8,065 in individual tombs and 5,453 in ossuaries.The national necropolis of Petant is made up of two parts. In the upper part, the French military cemetery of the Great War contains the bodies of 5,199 French soldiers and 1 Serb.
