| 説明 | Built in 1746, this stone building was constructed by the Moravian settlers of Bethlehem to house single men and married couples. The building also housed the communal kitchen and dining area for the community. The building features a rusticated fieldstone exterior, gambrel roof, brick arches, six-over-six and eight-over-eight double-hung windows, shed dormers, a central cupola with a decorative balustrade, an octagonal cupola with a bell and bell-shaped copper-clad roof with a metal finial and weather vane, a central front entrance with a transom, and a central rear entrance and a side entrance with a small covered porch with a front gable and latticework. The building is a contributing structure in the Central Bethlehem Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972, and expanded to include additional buildings in 1988, and a contributing structure in the Historic Moravian Bethlehem District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places and as a National Historic Landmark in 2012. |
