| 説明 | UK Railtours took the preserved Hastings 6-car DEMU to Portsmouth on 3rd September 2022. We were greeted after de0training, by the paddle steamer Waverley doing a circular cruise of the Isle of Wight. We took a harbour tour to view the RN ships at berth including the new aircraft carrier HMS Queen Elizabeth. The sister ship HMS Prince of WAles was at Anchorage C in the Solent having broken down following a mean prop shaft bearing failure the previous week. Luckily for us, this was the day they decided to bring the stricken vessel back in to port without her own power, just tugs, through the narrow throat of Portsmouth Harbour on the 5pm high tide. We got a grandstand view from the top of Southsea's Round Tower. |
