| 説明 | Built in 1906 and circa 1894, these Queen Anne and Renaissance Revival buildings were constructed to house a drug store owned by E. H. Nicholl which operated at this location from 1894 until 1910. The older building features a Queen Anne-style sandstone facade with a decorative parapet, rusticated stone blocks and pilasters with horizontal trim banding, stone brackets, and decorative lintels, while the newer building features an orange brick facade with paired doric pilasters framing a large second-story window with decorative transoms, a brick and stone pediment, a decorative stepped parapet, sandstone trim, and one-over-one double-hung windows. The buildings today house a Ben Franklin discount store and an insurance agency, and stand among other historic commercial buildings on Park Avenue in Downtown Amherst. |
