| 説明 | August 20th, 2021 9:00PMHigh of 86 degrees FahrenheitLow of 67 degrees Fahrenheit82 degrees Fahrenheit at captureAt a secret location, a couple friends and I canoed to a deep pool in a river adjacent to a large river bluff. We set up camp on the gravel bar across from the bluffs, and began diving near the rock face. Under the water were ledges and caves which went back sometimes 12 feet. In one of them was a huge turtle wedged between rocks within reach. Unfortunately in my attempt to dislodge it I grabbed it's back leg and it snapped at my hand, missing by inches. I let go and retreated for the surface. Later that night, my friend took the canoe out and began looking for the turtle. He called out that it was gone from it's underwater cave. Shortly after, he spotted this one amongst boulders in 15 feet of water. He dove down and in an epic struggle retrieved the turtle to the surface, at which point I intersected them with a canoe. He held the turtle with one hand and the canoe with the other and I lead them to the gravel bar, then we photographed the animal. After about fifteen minutes we released it back into it's lair just before severe storms rolled in.Missouri |
