| 説明 | Built in 1893, this Romanesque Revival and Queen Anne-style commercial building was built for the Wichman family and originally featured a rooftop tower at the corner of Main and Madison, removed quite recently when the roof was replaced. The building features a brick exterior with a band of rusticated limestone trim forming the lintels of most of the second-story windows, rusticated stone piers and lintels on the ground floor, ground floor retail spaces, a front facade with a stepped parapet bearing datestones and the name of the original owner carved on limestone blocks, arched windows at the central bay flanked by blind arches, extensive brick corbeling at the base of the parapet, a secondary storefront at the rear of the building, a membrane over the parapet, apparently due to structural issues with it, and formerly featured a rooftop tower at the main street corner with a pyramidal hipped roof, corbeling, and arched windows. The building is presently used as a warehouse, leading to most of the window bays being closed up or covered with PVC lattice. |
