| 説明 | Developed by the Hilton Hotels Company and opened initially the 1950s, the Hilton Hawaiian Village Resort dominates the Ewa (northwest) end of Waikiki, and features several hotel towers, with the oldest being 1950s modernist buildings, which have been renovated and expanded over time. The iconic Rainbow Tower, built in 1968, features large multi-color rainbow mosaics on the exterior facades designed by artist Millard Sheets, including a very visible one facing the Pacific Ocean, beach, and nearby Duke Paoa Kahanamoku Lagoon. There are also many postmodern structures mimicking more traditional local architecture, which are more recent additions to the complex. The complex features several high-rise modern buildings constructed on Waikiki between the 1950s and 1980s that transformed a once quiet low-rise oceanside district into a high-rise bustling neighborhood. |
