| 説明 | Built in 1934, this Art Deco-style fire station was designed by C. W. Dickey and John Mason Young to replace an earlier fire station on the same site. The building features a concrete exterior with geometric banded trim around the parapet, stone trim at the first floor window and door openings, a tower with a hipped roof and louvers, a balcony on the second floor of the facade along Fort Street with a geometric railing and decorative brackets, aluminum windows, a two-story rear addition made of concrete that cantilevers over the rear service court, and three large double aluminum garage doors with geometric detailing in the three large center bays of the front facade, with matching aluminum spandrel panels above with large HFD emblems on them. The fire station today remains in active use by the Honolulu Fire Department and serves Downtown Honolulu. It is a contributing structure in the Fire Stations of Oahu Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. |
