| 説明 | The Jörgenberg is the largest preserved castle ruin in the Surselva. First mentioned in 765. Integrated was the St. Georg church from the middle of the 9th century. Prisoners were imprisoned in the castle and, if convicted, executed on the nearby gallows hill. In the 17th century the plant began to fall into disrepair. Extensive excavation and safety work was carried out in 1930, but unfortunately archaeologically inappropriate. From 1997 to 2001, the entire complex was preserved with contributions from the federal government, canton and municipality and numerous private donations.The castle is on the eastern edge of Waltensburg, above Rueun. It is easy to reach from Waltensburg on a good path. And there is a detour to the rather unknown hill with the remains of a gallows. The castle complex is clean and well developed with two rest areas inclusive drinking water fountain, firewood, fireplace and a mobile toilet. Instead of going back to Waltensburg, there is a safe path through the forest down to Rueun. A non-strenuous excursion well suited for families. The starting point from the valley is the "Mt. S.Gieri" stop, which can be reached from Ilanz by the postbus to Andiast. Those who prefer hiking upwards can also start in Rueun.
