| 説明 | The London Midland Region at Birmingham New Street ran a "West Midlands Merrymaker Club" during the early 1980s which offered some tremendous deals on days out by rail. Some were deals on regular scheduled services, but occasionally they would run a Special - one such took a 9-car Met Camm set from BNS to Blaenau Ffestiniog! This one ran on a hot August day in 1984 and was spectacular though - A Class 86 powered fast run to Carlisle followed by 40 004 on the GSW mainline to Mauchline Junction, then Annbank Jnc, Ayr Goods and north to Kilwinning (S-N Juncs) then along the coast to terminate at Largs. All for the princely sum of £5! |
